Welcome to Gwent Metal Detecting Club's Web site. Below you will find a brief introduction to the club, for more information, please use the links above. Formed in 1977 by Will Evans, Roger Appleby, Jim Kinnersley, and Del Samuels. GDC is now one of the most successful Detecting Clubs in Wales averaging 150 members. An issue of great importance to GDC is Charity fundraising and during 2010 our members raised over £10,000 for various charitable causes. We would like to urge any prospective fundraisers who are able to supply land or know of any farmers or landowners who are willing to open up land to the club in order to raise funds for whatever cause, to get in touch with GDC or come along to a meeting and we can then discuss details on a more friendly social level. Our Club (GDC) holds a club members meeting on the first Tuesday of each month. The GDC Meetings start shortly after 7pm. At each club meeting we hold a find's of the month competition which contribute towards our yearly award of detectorist of the year. Wherever possible GDC will try to obtain permission from farmers and landowners to have access to land, enabling all of us to enjoy a days detecting on a new site. Details of these rallies are announced on the website, and these rallies allow the less experienced members to detect alongside the more experienced, thus helping them to become more successful with their machines.
